DINING ROOMS

This elegant restaurant has two welcoming rooms and a verdant terrace that can accommodate around thirty guests. The main room has ten well-spaced tables, heated by a wood fire in winter. This creates a timeless atmosphere that invites you to share moments of intimacy with friends and family. A second room with a chic rustic atmosphere, is ideal for private personal or professional events.

The dining rooms are airconditioned; disabled access and a high chair are available.

On sunny days, you can enjoy the walled garden, popular with connoisseurs of the house. It offers a natural and peaceful setting to enjoy a moment of gastronomy in the Loire Valley.

The cooking at l’Aigle d’Or showcases the culinary culture of France and demonstrates a desire to translate the French “savoir-faire”. The Chef’s techniques are rooted in French classical methods, but the dishes are fashioned with his own character and vitality.

You will discover French and local traditional cooking with a twist of the chef’s imagination which will arouse your gastronomic curiosity. Prominence is given to seasonal products and to all that the local “terroir” can offer us.

THE WALLED GARDEN

Hidden behind a plain facade is the walled garden at l’Aigle d’Or. This patch of greenery is a unique place to create memories. There are a whole range of edible plants grown among citrus trees, roses, and jasmine. The mulberry tree complements the parasols, creating welcome shade at the height of summer.

The garden is designed to be at its most beautiful in the summer months and provides for the kitchen all year round.

ETHOS

The team at l’Aigle d’Or works responsibly to address the ecological challenges of our profession. Every purchase made, from crockery to furniture, is well researched and where possible made in France.

The majority of the produce for the restaurant is organically farmed and few of the ingredients are imported. The restaurant proudly represents the talent of French artisans and businesses such as tablecloths, silverware, flowers… Wastewater from the kitchen is reused for watering the garden, just as organic waste is transformed into compost to fertilize. Nothing goes to waste.

HISTORY

A short walk from the beautiful Renaissance chateau of Azay le Rideau, l’Aigle d’Or is located in a discret house, a former inn, on the road to Langeais. The restaurant became a gourmet restaurant thirty-five years ago. Its name derives from the three eagles on the coat of arms of the village.

This Ridelloise institution was taken over at the end of 2019 by a Franco-English couple and their work was quickly recognised by the MICHELIN Guide with a Bib Gourmand and by Gault & Millau.

AZAY-LE-RIDEAU

At the heart the Loire valley, Azay le Rideau can be found west of Tours and south of Langeais. We are particularly fond of the vineyards and their development, the gastronomy heritage and the dynamism of this “Ligerienne” region. Over a weekend or a long stay, you yourself can visit our wine growers, all of the majestic Loire châteaux, public forests and numerous cycle paths. To discover the best of our little village we strongly suggest a stop of at the tourist office for a detailed map so you can enjoy a long well-informed walk to help digest after a good meal.
